Synopsis

⁣“The Nature of the River” is about the similarities between a woman's mental state and the states/life cycles of the river. This is a movie about a human relationship with nature, about the wiseness of its cyclicality, about instinct and wildness that each of us carries within us. We are part of Pure Wild Nature.
The film was made using the under camera animation technique with ground coffee on the so-called multiplane, consisting of two transparent backgrounds and a milk one. I chose this technique due to the vividness of the image it provides: minimalist and attractive at the same time. An important procedure that I used was pouring coffee on two planes, which gave the shots a bit of spaciousness. My goal was also to animate some of the shots on three planes simultaneously, with the addition of colorful materials and with the minimal use of graphic programs in the subsequent editing of the film. This means that most of the shots were created directly on the film set, and the computer served only as a tool to record the animation process.
A way of creating movement was also an important aspect in the creation of this project - I wanted to achieve sparing and symbolic expression. In turn, my directorial idea was the poetic dimension of the narrative, giving the viewer the opportunity to add their own details to the image.
The goal was to create space for individual interpretation, so that the viewer can feel and experience the film more internally, focusing on the emotions it stimulates rather than understanding it with a logical mind.
