About Director

⁣Elaheh Farnia was born in 1969 in Iran. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in painting in 1995.
Her favorite technique in painting was watercolor. So after her graduation from university she focused on this technique by attending in a private classes with one of the most well-known painter in watercolor. Elaheh worked in this technique for 8 years and through these years she attended in some painting exhibitions in Tehran such as: exhibition of painting for children in ROOZ gallery ( 2008), Melal gallery(2009), painting group exhibition in ROOZ gallery (2010) etc.
After some years of working as a painter and as writing was also one of her interest, she got interested in animation and chose this media for telling her stories. So she continued her studies at university in animation directing and graduated with a master's degree in 2014. From that year until now she is active in making and producing short animations and participating in some animation projects.
As a screenwriter, director and producer, she has directed and produced three short animations. Her first animation film which was a student film named “SASKI”( Digital 2D technique- 2014) has been selected in some festivals such as Athens International Animation Festival, Tehran International Film Festival, Parvin Etesami Film Festival, Tehran Biennial Animation Festival. Her second short animation “HAND” (Claymation technique- 2020) was a new experience with clay. This animation also has been selected in 15 international festivals such as: Anime Arte international festival (Brazil), Detmold international film festival (Germany), ANIMAPHIX International Animated Film Festival (Italy), Leiria Film Fest (Portugal) and so on.
As she was eager to experience new and challenging techniques in her path of film making, she chose a mixed media technique for her third and recent film “SUDDENLY A BIRD”. In this film she mixed two techniques of live action and stopmotion.
As she loved stopmotion technique she participated in making short animation “Mr. Deer” ( stopmotion technique, directed by Mojtaba Mousavi -2016) as producer as well as project manager.
She also has collaborated and participated as an accessory maker in the production of several animations such as: “THE PAST”(a stopmotion animation directed by Hamid Mohammadi- 2018), “PAPER FLOWERS”( a stopmotion animation directed by Ramak Amin Kazemi- 2019), “THE COLLECTOR”( a stopmotion animation directed by Mahsa Shoja- 2017) and so on.
