Synopsis

⁣A short animated piece dedicated to the composer, guitar maker, and guitar virtuoso Ivan Padovec. The author, Sara Majnarić (13), was inspired by his composition Polonaise in A major.
Ivan Padovec, a Croatian composer born in Varaždin in 1800, was the first Croatian guitar virtuoso, music educator, and composer who achieved worldwide fame. He is known globally for his invention of the ten-string guitar, which he created to give the guitar a richer sound, and for his Guitar School, which contains instructions for playing his guitar.
The film is made using the traditional animation technique of drawing on paper. The double-neck guitar is hand-colored, while the sound is depicted with black lines on a white background. The simplicity of the lines and the animation of the notes contrast with the richness of the sound, as the film is created as a subtle animated illustration of Padovec's composition.
