⁣Born in 1984 Booshehr (Iran) Hajar Mehrani has been working in the field of animation for over twelve years, creating short films, and animated series. However, her primary focus has been on short films, for which she received international awards. She recently obtained Master’s degree in Animation from Re:Anima program which held in three countries: Belgium, Finland, and Portugal.
Her artworks have a critical view on social and cultural issues. Often referring to history, herwork examines women’s rights within popular culture. She mentioned: “Many of these stories might be inspired by the characters from my mother’s folklore tales that she told me in my childhood. They have never ceased to inspire me. My mother told me many stories about the changes in our land, about brave women who fought for freedom, and also about women who surrendered.”
